A Tibetan graduate student from India visits the University of Virginia Tibetan collections librarian, Ngawang. Ngawang explains that most of the collections come from India via the Library of Congress while others come from Bhutan, Nepal, and Sikkim. They also have books from the nationalities publishers in China, but those books are bound in western format, not the traditional unbound pothi format. The student asks for sources on Tibetan royal lineages and Ngawang teaches him how to search for Tibetan and non-Tibetan sources on their online catalog. While his office holds catalogs and dictionaries, the rest of the collections are located in the main library. The two then leave to visit the collections in the main library.
