Devi Thane is a sacred dwelling place, located in Alanchi since long ago. People used to gather and perform a grand ritual there once a year. It is because Devi (god) showers blessing such as timely rainfall for a good harvest. Though there are various types of Devi (god) residing there, Shinga Devi in particular is there. The people call a Hindu Pundit or priest to perform a ritual and they bring even sick persons and disabled children to this sacred site, to seek blessings from Devi Thane.
