This collection captures intergenerational knowledge transfer, as elderly nomads from the Amdo Zangkar area share their experiences with traditional early childhood education with local children. The elders also introduce the children to family-based and region-related cultural customs prior to the beginning of the school year.

Traditional early childhood education in this pastoral area encompasses five forms: child-rearing methods, children’s games, folktales, riddles and folk songs.

This collection details games according to the required number of players, rules, necessary materials, playing environments, figures and the game's applications, rewards and penalties. The folk songs encompass songs of praise, songs of wishfulness, self-composed compositions, humorous songs and lullabies. The collection also includes some love songs and ceremonial songs that are not directly related to children or early childhood education.

As for riddles, in this pastoral area riddles are called Khé. Children often gather around to listen and try to guess the riddle's meaning. When someone gives the correct answer, the riddler acknowledges they're right. However, when the answer is wrong, the would-be riddle solver will recite some prayers for the riddler, after which the riddler reveals the correct answer.  The folk tales presented in this collection are widely known in Amdo region and some are particularly well known to Zangkar area. However, all are told in the locally traditional forms and in local dialect.
